TODAY'S TRAVEL PHOTO OF YESTERYEAR:
It is quite unreal to see such decorative gold-trimmed windows. In a way it takes me back to my younger days as nine year old, when my curiosity was fueled by atlases, encyclopedias and an animation series called "The Mysterious Cities of Gold". Even though the series was based on the Spanish invasion of South America and the Incas, I used to dream on after the credits have rolled. I dreamt of discovering lost cities trimmed with gold, and going on adventures as dear as the trinkets we would find along the way. I would be an Inca princess of course, and the "Jungle Book" black Panther, Bagheera, would be my pet. A grand fusion of all exotic pictures of far off places in our encyclopedias would blend seamlessly into one adventure after the other. And what golden cities I built in my mind! I might be mistaken, but some windows in these make-believe cities had very similar frames to the ones I saw in Bangkok's Grand Palace. I was just a kid in front of these windows, watching with unspoiled wonder.
